Philadelphus Fiddled Following Flickr Feedback by Sharon
Fragrant Mock Orange blossom in my garden following a late afternoon, May shower. Images that follow geometric beauty, the rule of thirds and harmonic triangles always attract us for some reason. The Golden Section, the phi relationship, has long been used to understand and achieve beauty, balance and harmony in art. This relationship can be used to achieve excellence. I wanted to post this, after my surprise at just how many floral pictures I have taken recently which follow the 'Golden triangle/Fibonacci/Pascal rules' which Sarah B explained to me as we drank Gin and selected my images for the exhibition.
4 months after the Blog launch, I can now confirm that SG5Art.com is ours!!!
If you log on to www.SG5ARt.com (for now anyways) it will direct you (and other visitors) to our Blog. This also means I can set up Tina@SG5Art.com etc and we can redirect that to your individual email addresses.
I openly admit it looks like something I could or should have painted as a teenager. I've never used oils before so this is my first 15cm x15cm oil on canvas. I didn't know quite what to paint, then decided Pearl, at least, would love this, being one of her favourite stories. I really enjoyed painting it and loved the feel of the oils. My starting point - which I hope to swiftly progress from after this Saturday when I learn better oil technique at Sarah G's Masterclass. A tall order indeed - getting anywhere close to the rest of you talented bunch.
Thought I would tantalise you all with a sneak preview of what I am working on. Am trying some new(to me) techniques. Watch this space. Oil on canvas of course.
Congratulations to our 1000th visitor (since March 12th)

Hi everyone. I am acutely aware that I said I would do artwork for the invites and have done nothing. Do you all want to send me your most prized image that you would like to represent you on the invite? I will endeavour to produce something for approval on Monday night. If anyone also wants to suggest some wording, Alan maybe, please send toute suite. Hope your are all well and wish to accept your mission, this post will self destruct in SG5 seconds.....xxxxx
A MESSAGE FROM SARAH BOOTH
I think we need to make a decision about music for the private view
at the P V on friday W B asked if we were going to have music as he would have to arrange for a PA.
comments please xxxxxxxxxx
Here's my new painting for The Boxfield show. i wanted to create a dramatic , bold image out of something fragile, as with my other flower paintings. I loved the colours in the photo i used, and thought the contrast was strong. Hope you all like it!
When I see this blossom every year it reminds me of my Spring walks to school as a child - I would snap off a small sprig and wonder at its minature bouquet appearance. I love that, for just a few weeks in late April, on the same tree, you can see both the opened blossom in pale pink, and closed buds in a vibrant cerise. Captured here against the early-morning mottled sky, I felt a need to Blog it, to freeze the temporary stage I love so much, already this has gone and the blossom on this tree has turned completely white.
Hi girls. I thought this was very worthy of a blog on SG5! Alan took this photo and did the wonderful stuff that he does! We should have SG5 other half!
Anyway please consider this wonderful picture as a formal invitation to the birthday of my year! Please come my lovelies to my abode for 8ish. We can glug some wine(g&t!) and do a quick s.h.a.g and nibbles and then down to Pizza Express for a pronto pizza. (We could alternatively do a curry if anyone is sick of PE?). Please Blog yeah or neigh.(if itsa neigh I wont talk to anyone for a month!) Alan is babysitting and I would have said have a meal at mine, but as space is limited and daisy is bound to wake up and ruin the ambience hope arrangements are cool. Love you all.
i got an invite to a Private view of " Nearly Orange collective" a group of artist including Karen's friend Tom Stallard ( who exhibited in Worx of Art) friday 12 may
anyone want to come.
Hello! Thought i'd try (Hope it works this time!) to post this new painting onto the blog now its finished. Its an old theme given a new look, I used to do really fussy backgrounds, so wanted to try stripping that away in the hope the objects, in this case the fish would leap out at you. let me know what you think ladies, byeeeee!!
This is the image I am currently working on. In Photoshop I am layering SG5 Art's pictures onto the photo (as additional posters on this wall). I really like the abstract shapes and colours in the tired brickwork and the solitude of the woman passing by. I have grouped a set of photos from my Krakow trip on Flicker and this one, at the moment is my most popular picture.
